APPLICATION:

The precept.concept.percept residency centers on a dynamic, collaborative creative process in which performers and composers work closely together to prepare for a performance at the seventh Bled Contemporary Music Week in Bled, Slovenia. Composers present, theorize, and write new works, while performers form an ensemble to engage with these compositions, refine their skills, and expand their practice through premiering them. Composers may choose either to write for an existing ensemble joining the program or to select the instrumentation from among the participating performers applying to form a new ensemble, depending on the applicant pool.

The program unfolds in three stages:

1. Three online workshops, where both performers and composers present their artistic practices and prepare for the creation and performance of new works.

2. Three online workshops focused score readings, analysis, reflection on the composed works, and preparation for the following one-week workshop at the festival, with continued guidance from mentors.

3. An intensive one-week workshop in Bled, Slovenia (EU), culminating in a live-recorded festival performance.

Participants benefit from high-quality documentation of their performances and recordings, opportunities to network with international artists, expand their repertoire, receive guidance and feedback from experienced composers and performers, and build long-term collaborations with fellow residency participants and the .abeceda [New Music Ensemble]. For existing ensembles in particular, the residency offers a valuable opportunity to further develop and broaden their repertoire.
