precept.concept.percept XVII. RESIDENCY PROGRAM
As participant ensemble, you will:
- Join a one-year residency program focused on contemporary music, with a specialization in ensemble performance.
- Expand your ensemble’s repertoire by collaborating directly with composers to develop and premiere newly composed works.
- Gain professional experience and references by performing at the Bled Contemporary Music Week, and receive professional live recordings of your performances in both video and audio format.
- Take part in intensive rehearsal and performance processes during the on-site festival week, while further developing your ensemble practice, dynamics, and stage performance.
- Collaborate closely with composers and other ensembles throughout the year, actively contributing to the development of new works.
- Participate in online sessions to present your ensemble practice, refine your performance approach, and discuss artistic and logistical considerations with composers.
- Explore a range of contemporary notation techniques and performance practices, enriching your ensemble’s working methods, study process, and artistic development.
- Attend lectures, symposia, and concerts during the festival week, while connecting with guest composers, performers, and other residency participants from around the world.
INFORMATION ON NEWLY COMPOSED WORKS:
- Newly composed works by participating composers will be performed by the ensembles in residence.
- Ensembles will receive the scores by October 30, 2026.
- Reading sessions will take place during Stage II. of the workshop (December 2026 to February 2027) in online sessions. These sessions are intended to provide feedback to composers, suggest refinements, and address logistical and practical questions related to the works.
- As an ensemble, you are expected to be present for the rehearsal week, which will take place between June 14 and 26, 2027.
- During the festival, ensembles will perform approximately 5 to 10 newly composed works. The final number will depend on the number of composer applicants and will be communicated once the application process has concluded.
